This fourth volume of the landmark DMAA Outcomes Guidelines Report incorporates and expands on the work of three previous volumes, the first of which DMAA published in 2006. The evolving Outcome Guidelines project has been broadly praised for its transparent, consensus-based process and adherence to best industry practices. The Volume 4 guidelines include recommendations and other key elements of the first three documents, as well as significant new material, including:
- A definition, framework, basic capabilities and core measures for population health management, expanding the document's scope beyond more narrowly focused programs.
- Additional recommended measures for medication adherence.
- Expanded recommendations for evaluating wellness programs.
- Special considerations for evaluating mature programs.
For the first time, DMAA is making its Outcomes Guidelines Report document freely available in electronic format. Note: Access to a downloadable PDF of this document requires completion of a brief user agreement. Go to user agreement >>
Provider Satisfaction Survey — Free
The success of disease management, wellness and other population-based interventions can depend on the satisfaction of providers, who play an important role by referring patients and managing and coordinating patient care. This validated survey instrument allows health plans, population health management companies and others to measure provider satisfaction and tailor programs to enhance provider relationships and improve patient care. The survey examines provider satisfaction with patient reports; program impact on practice and patient relationships; and impact on patient health and the provider's ability to manage patient health. Outcomes Guidelines Report, Volume 3 — $150
DMAA again raises the bar for industry-consensus approaches to measuring outcomes in population health improvement programs: Outcomes Guidelines Report, Volume 3. This new work, which expands on the clinical and financial measures of Vols. 1 and 2, adds significant new content to the ongoing development of reliable, transparent and evidence-based measurement approaches. Volume 3:
- validates identification methodology recommendations;
- recommends a measure of medication possession ratio;
- expands guidelines for evaluating wellness programs;
- develops definitions of the operational process of delivering a program; and
- outlines guiding principles for evaluating programs for more than one condition
Volume 3 complements the first two Outcomes Guidelines Report volumes and references the earlier works' recommendations in a convenient topline summary. It also discusses next steps in the DMAA Outcomes Guidelines development process.

Disease Management and Wellness: Results of a Market Research Survey (CD-ROM) — $250
DMAA: The Care Continuum Alliance retained The Gantry Group to conduct an in-depth, comprehensive study on the state of the disease management and wellness industry and to deliver new quantitative insights regarding these key components of population health improvement. The survey is important for the new insights it brings to:
- the size of the industry by lives covered, disease states managed, types of wellness initiatives;
- the performance of current disease management and health and wellness programs;
- future growth plans for the industry; and
- current and expected industry trends.
Once identified and quantified, key findings from the survey by category are presented to provide a better understanding of the disease management and wellness industry for public- and private-sector health plans, disease management organizations and employers. A major objective of this report is to establish a vision of the disease management industry for the next three to five years. As a knowledge base, this report serves a dual purpose by providing current general industry, clinical and financial statistics where possible, as well as projections.

Predictive Modeling Buyer's Guide — $75
Predictive modeling tools, used in care management to predict high cost, high-risk cases, offer tremendous value for directing and prioritizing resources. The tools are particularly effective when linked harmoniously with a care management program’s specific interventions and desired outcomes. With this perspective, the DMAA "Predictive Modeling Buyer's Guide" reviews how to assess the value of predictive models in care management settings and describes how assessment of "impactibility"—being amenable or receptive to intervention—strengthens predictive models.
Highlights of this concise guide include:
- A review of different modeling tools and their applications.
- Guidance on how to assess models for impactibility and statistical performance.
- Explanations of the practical implications of impactibility.
- Suggestions on what to consider when making build versus buy decisions.
- An index of selected peer-reviewed publications and white papers.
- A list of predictive modeling providers and a buyer's guide checklist.
