DMAA: The Care Continuum Alliance
Announces Changes to Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, D.C.—At its annual business meeting last week, DMAA: The Care Continuum Alliance approved 2007-2008 Board of Directors positions, including a new chair-elect and other key leadership slots.

At the meeting in Las Vegas, site of the 9th Annual DMAA Disease Management Leadership Forum, DMAA members approved Gordon K. Norman, MD, MBA, as the organization’s chair-elect. Dr. Norman is Executive Vice President and Chief Science Officer, Alere Medical Inc.

"I am delighted to have an opportunity to contribute further to the expanding work of DMAA: The Care Continuum Alliance as Chair-Elect, working closely with current Chair William Popik, MD, other committed members of the Board of Directors and the talented association staff," Dr. Norman said. "It is a very exciting time for our evolving industry, and the myriad activities supporting the association’s new strategic plan and rebranding focus will benefit greatly from our new Board members’ perspectives, as well as continuity from our devoted incumbent members, with energetic leadership from the new DMAA officers."

In other Board officer changes approved at the Sept. 17 business meeting, Jan Berger, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Caremark Rx Inc., became DMAA treasurer, succeeding independent consultant Jaan Sidorov, MD; Christopher Coloian, Vice President, Health Advocacy Product, CIGNA HealthCare and Care Allies, became Government Affairs Committee chair, succeeding Dr. Berger; and Rose Maljanian, Vice President, Clinical Product Development, Magellan Health Services, became Quality and Research Committee chair, succeeding Dr. Norman.

DMAA added four new board members, including:

  • D. W. Edington, PhD, Director, Health Management Research Center, University of Michigan.
  • Patricia P. Mueller, MD, Head, Medical Operations, Aetna Inc.
  • Jeremy J. Nobel, MD, MPH, faculty member, Harvard School of Public Health.
  • Jerome V. Vaccaro, MD, President and Chief Operating Officer, APS Healthcare

The organization recognized the contributions of departing Board members, including:

  • Sam Nussbaum, MD, Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Wellpoint.
  • Christobel Selecky, immediate past-chair and LifeMasters Supported SelfCare CEO.
  • Jaan Sidorov, MD, independent consultant and outgoing treasurer.
  • Eileen Auen, of APS Healthcare
  • Janet Wright, MD, Chair, Disease Management Committee, American College of Cardiology.
  • Alex Rodriguez, MD, Medical Officer, Harmony Behavioral Health Inc., WellCare Health Plans Inc.
