DMAA Announces Samuel R. Nussbaum, MD of Anthem WASHINGTON, DC—A new slate of officers and Board members were confirmed by DMAA members at the October 13th Annual DMAA Business meeting. New officers elected by the membership for the 2003-2004 term of office include: President: Samuel R. Nussbaum, MD, Executive Vice President & Chief Medical Officer, Anthem, Inc. In addition to assuming the Association's highest office, Dr. Nussbaum also served as 2003 Program Chair for the 5th Annual Disease Management Leadership Forum which once again had record attendance for the fifth year in a row. For Anthem, Dr. Nussbaum serves as chief spokesperson on medical issues, guides Anthem's vision regarding quality of care and its measurement, directs corporate medical policy, leads programs to build Anthem's cost of care performance and build partnerships with Anthem's physician and hospital community. He joined Anthem from BJC Health Care of St. Louis, where he was executive vice president for medical affairs and system integration. His past experience also includes serving as a professor at Harvard Medical School and as a member of the staff at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he led programs in clinical endocrinology and basic research. A graduate of Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Dr. Nussbaum completed residency training in Internal Medicine at Stanford and Massachusetts General Hospital and fellowship training in Endocrinology and Metabolism at Harvard. He has also received teaching awards and authored numerous scientific and clinical articles.
